Tay Choon Chong Moves to Vertex Venture

Vertex Venture Holdings today announced that Tay Choon Chong will join the company as Managing Director and China Chief Representative. He would be based in Beijing and would also join the investment committee of the company.

Chua Kee Lock, Chief Executive Officer, said, "We see China as a key and an important geographical region for Vertex investment. As an experienced investment professional and based locally in China, Choon Chong would be able to drive our investment efforts in China. I look forward to welcoming him to Vertex."

Mr Tay Choon Chong is Managing Director & China Chief Representative of Vertex Venture Holdings.

Prior to joining Vertex Group, Choon Chong was a Senior Vice President of Government Investment Corporation of Singapore (GIC) based in Beijing, China from 2007 to 2009. Prior to that, Choon Chong was with Singapore Technologies Engineering, a listed engineering company in Singapore. He was a Senior Vice President of its aerospace division and responsible for its component total aviation support business which has operations in Scandinavia and Singapore. From 2000 to 2005, Choon Chong was with Fortune Ventures Investment Group, a pan-asia venture capital firm. He was the President of Fortune Singapore and two of its technology funds based in Singapore. Choon Chong started his career in 1995 as an engineer designing avionics system for fighter jets.

He holds a BEng(Hons) degree in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College, London, and a MSc in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, both under the Singapore Technologies Scholarship.
